The renowned Bavarian manufacturer have made some major changes (and additions) to their petrol line-up in India. The most recent launches include the X1 sDrive 20i and the 330i sedan, now CKD. BMW have also brought in their most powerful car ever: the V12-powered M760Li xDrive. BMW have also discontinued the 520i from their line-up, with the new G30 5 Series arriving next month. Another model that went under the axe was the straight-six powered X3 xDrive 30d.
BMW have launched the 330i to take the place of the 320i; also offering customers the option of choosing between Sport Line and M Sport Edition trim levels. Both the cars are powered by a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo that produces 252 PS at 5,200 rpm and a peak torque of 350 Nm between 1,450 and 4,800 rpm. This engine is mated to an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic gearbox that drives the rear wheels. Both trim levels share features like BMW Driving Experience Control (Modes: Comfort, ECOPRO, Sport, Sport+) and launch control. Both get their own exclusive line of aesthetic characteristics in addition to different alloys and separate choices for upholstery.
One thing that the Sport Line offers over the M Sport Edition is the option of the Mediterranean Blue metallic colour which the M Sport Edition makes up for with the fancy Heads-Up display that is not available on the Sport Line. They are currently priced at Rs 42.40 lakh and Rs 44.90 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) for the Sport Line and the M Sport Edition respectively.
BMW India have also introduced their first-ever petrol X1, the sDrive 20i, driven by the 2.0-litre, in-line four, turbo-petrol engine is the new one also seen in the MINI Cooper S. It makes 192 PS and a peak torque of 280 Nm. This front-wheel driven petrol crossover might appeal to those people who want an SUV but aren’t too keen to explore the road not taken.
