BMW India will display most of their range of cars and launch the all-new 7 Series and new X1 at the Auto Expo in Delhi, with BMW Motorrad also showing their two-wheeled beauties.
The all-new 7 Series brings in a slew of new technological advances and comfort and connectivity features, including ‘Welcome Carpet’ lighting, next-generation ambient lighting, wireless charging capabilities, tablet-ised rear-seat vehicle functions, and gesture control, not to mention a smart key-fob with a display that allows limited remote parking. The engine line-up is expected, as it was the last time, to begin with the 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo straight-six diesel, now with 265 PS and 620 Nm, in the 730Ld, with the petrol offering being powered by a TwinPower Turbo V8 with 450 PS and 650 Nm. A new 730Li TwinPower Turbo 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol with 252 PS and 350 Nm is available overseas. Whether that version is launched to take on the 240-PS four-pot Jaguar XJ 2.0i remains to be seen.
All versions will have an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. No xDrive variants are expected. Prices should start around the Rs 95 lakh mark.
The new X1 will also be launched, sporting an all-new, more aggressive look and revised engines. The sDrive 20d is expected to continue, but with 190 PS and 400 Nm. With as many as four variants expected, the price should be quite competitive.
The BMW India pavilion at the Auto Expo 2016 will display the 3 Series, 3 Series Gran Turismo, 5 Series, X3, X5, M4 Coupé, M6 Gran Coupé, X6 M, Z4 and the i8. BMW Motorrad will have the S 1000 XR , S 1000 RR, R nineT and R 1200 GS on display.
