BMW have launched the all-new X5 M and X6 M today. The hotly anticipated machines are the latest in the ‘X’ family to enter the fray, and pack the same high performance that we’ve come to associate with the iconic M badging.
Under the hood the BMW X5 M and X6 M get the company’s most powerful engine developed for an all-wheel drive vehicle, a 4.4-litre V8, M TwinPower turbo. Boasting innovative M TwinPower Turbo technology, TwinScroll turbochargers, cross-bank exhaust manifolds, VALVETRONIC and High Precision Direct Petrol injection, the V8 is capable to churn out 575 PS at 6,000-6,500 RPM and 750 Nm of torque at 2,200-5,00 RPM. All that power is sent to the wheels via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with drivelogic, which mirrors the operating concept of the M Double Clutch.
The other highlight of the all-new X5 M and X6 M include Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). The functions of the DSC have been optimised over its previous versions and include various added active safety functions like Brake Standby, Brake Dying, Fading Compensation and parking brake with automatic hold function. BMW have also taken a step to enhance the driving characteristics with the development of special front and rear tyres. The X5 M has been priced at Rs 1.55 crore and the X6 M retails at Rs 1.60 Crore, both ex-showroom, Delhi.
