Audi have revealed a more powerful version of their bursting-at-the-seams crossover SUV, the Q5, with 340 PS and 700 Nm from the popular V6 BiTDI motor.
The new SQ5 TDI was a hot crossover, with the 3.0-litre diesel V6 BiTurbo DI motor making 313 PS and 650 Nm no less. This new ‘plus’ packs 27 PS and 50 Nm more – taking the total to 340 PS and 700 Nm, thanks to higher injection pressure. There’s more. For the first time, the Q5 gets a sport differential to feed the quattro all-wheel-drive system. That raises performance and urgency by an equal proportion, to say the least/ 0-100 km/h takes just 5.1 seconds and the top speed is restricted to 250 km/h. Of course, it’s clean. It needs just 6.6 litres per 100 km – that’s 15.1 km/l – and emits jus 174 g/km of CO2.
Apart from the ‘plus’ badging, the only visible changes are the new 21″ alloys shod with 255/40 R21 rubber, and the extended gloss package on the mirrors, door handles, roof spoiler and diffuser. The special edition is limited to 100 units and is available in Audi exclusive selection Macaw Blue. The price? From €67,700 (Rs 50 lakh) in Germany.
