Powering the Dawn is Rolls-Royce’s 6.6-litre twin turbo V12 petrol engine with 571 PS coming in at 5,250 RPM and 780 Nm of peak torque kicking in at 1,500 RPM. Rolls-Royce say that the driving experience is further enhanced by a dynamic accelerator pedal mapping, which delivers up to 30 per cent increased response at medium throttle. Transmission is via a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox, which is also satellite aided – a technology that the company debuted with the Wraith two years ago. The technology allows the transmission to use GPS to anticipate the driver’s next move based on location and driving style. The information is then used to select the most appropriate gear to help the driver extract the most out of the drive.
Rolls-Royce’s new Dawn has taken inspiration from the Silver Dawn, whilst delivering a world first in super-luxury motoring – a cool, contemporary interpretation of what a super-luxury four-seater convertible motor car should be in 2015 – rare, refined and the most social super-luxury car there is.
