If you thought the Brio was the smallest imaginable Honda car, think again.
Honda Car India has expressed their interest in having a product in the subcompact segment. The small car market has not exactly been thriving of late, but there is never a shortfall of people looking for cars which are both affordable and efficient.
With the new car, Honda intends to take the fight to the Maruti-Suzuki Alto and Hyundai Eon, not to mention the upcoming Volkswagen up! and the possible introduction of Skoda’s Citigo, based on the same platform. These cars form the new breed of automobile which prioritise essentially compact and extremely practical city motoring. What is common among them all is the fact that they use three-cylinder petrol engines and offer as much space as possible within their compact dimensions. The boot volume isn’t commendable on either of them, but as inter-city cars with the occasional jaunt on the highway; they fit the bill perfectly. Those looking for inexpensive ways to commute within the city with the comfort and safety of a small car are increasing in number, and it is this group which is being targeted by many a car manufacturer.
