Facelifted Laura is here; RS variant is on its way.

Skoda launched the facelifted Laura last month with two new engines. The new car is essentially the 2009 model showcased by the Czech maker at Geneva. The car gets an intimidating front design on the lines of the new Superb. But that is not where the similarity ends. The new Laura also borrows the 1.8 TSI petrol and 2.0 TDI diesel engines from its elder sibling. The 2009 Laura’s retail price will be a tad lesser than the Superb. Another exciting bit of news comes in the form of Skoda’s plans to introduce the Laura RS in the coming few months. The car will be powered by a 2.0 TFSI motor that produces 200PS while a diesel RS variant will churn out 170PS out of the 2.0 TDI mill. For added performance, both these variants will be at least 15 to 20 kilos lighter than the luxurious ones. Visually, the RS will set itself apart from the rest of the range with day time running LEDs, 18-inch Neptune alloys and a youthful yellow paint.
