Volvo_V40_Cross_Country_3_webVolvo Auto India has finally launched the much-anticipated V40 Cross Country compact crossover in India.

Based on the Euro NCAP top rated V40, the Cross Country adds a slew of elements to make the car off-road ready while delivering car-like handling and driving dynamics.

The new V40 Cross Country is available in just one variant, the D3, powered by a 2.0-litre, inline 5, turbo-diesel engine which makes 150 PS and 350 Nm of torque. The now familiar 6-speed Geartronic Automatic powers the front wheels while making sure fuel efficiency is maximised. Needless to say, you get the infamous Volvo safety kit and electronic nannies are standard, with a world-first pedestrian airbag system ensuring maximum safety for pedestrians who get a bit too close for comfort when you’re on the move. Volvo’s Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC) together with Corner Torque Vectoring, ABS and EBD with Brake Assist and a full complement of air-bags give you that feeling of cocooned safety which Volvo is so well-known for.

Setting the V40 Cross Country apart from the standard V40 are a higher ground clearance of 173mm and the front and rear skid plates, which also give it a higher score in the minds of those who want to stray off the road occasionally. The roof rails add to the butch quotient. These factors will come in handy considering what the V40 CC has to go up against – the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and, for now, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class as well. Volvo Auto India will bring in the V40 Cross Country D3 as a CBU and have priced it at Rs 28.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune), putting it bang in contention with the target segment.Volvo_V40_Cross_Country_1_webVolvo_V40_Cross_Country_2_web
