Volvo, the well-known Swedish car company, has joined hands with the British firm, Bowers & Wilkins, to create a new audio system for the upcoming XC90.
The Bowers & Wilkins design for the new XC90 makes use of bespoke audio technology developed over five decades in loudspeaker design. The system is derived from acoustic technology developed for use in some of the world’s most demanding environments, including the legendary Abbey Road Studios.
The system comprises a 12-channel HARMAN 1400W Class D amplifier serving a total of 19 Bowers & Wilkins speakers – seven Nautilus tweeters (25 mm) with the latest treble technology, seven mid-range speakers (5 x 100 mm and 2 x 80 mm) with the characteristic yellow Bowers & Wilkins Kevlar cone clearly visible behind the cover, four cone woofers (200/165 mm) and the new, groundbreaking air-ventilated sub-woofer (250 mm).
