After the launch of the made-in-India and made-for-India Ameo petrol, Volkswagen have announced the diesel variant of the Ameo.
The new diesel variant of the Ameo will be equipped with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine now producing an output of 110 PS and 250 Nm. The new TDI diesel variant of the Ameo will be available from Rs. 6.27 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The Ameo diesel will also have an option of the DSG (direct-shift gearbox) seven-speed twin-clutch automatic starting from Rs. 8.41 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
Speaking at the occasion, Michael Mayer – Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “We have witnessed a successful launch of our made-in-India and made-for-India Ameo Petrol during the summer this year. Now with the Ameo Diesel being introduced during the festivities, we have an opportunity to cater to a wider set of customers, thereby further expanding the Volkswagen family. Ameo diesel will be equipped with a five-speed manual and our very popular seven-speed DSG gearbox transmission making it the most compelling proposition in the segment.”
Adding further, “Volkswagen’s commitment to safety is not an option and is intrinsic to the brand’s DNA. Ameo Diesel comes equipped with standard ABS and driver and passenger airbags making it one of the safest cars in the market.”
The pricing (ex-showroom) for all the Ameo 1.5 TDI diesel variants is as follows:
- Trendline MT: Rs 6.27 lakh
- Comfortline MT: Rs 7.27 lakh
- Highline MT: Rs 8.08 lakh
- Comfortline DSG: Rs 8.41 lakh
- Highline DSG: Rs 9.21 lakh
The 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine will find its way into the Polo and Vento, as well as the Skoda Rapid, which marks the end of the line for the Polo GT TDI. All variants will sport the 110-PS version, instead of the 90-PS and 105-PS versions they’ve had thus far.
