Toyota sell 3 million cars including the leader Prius and Coaster EV
Thanks to the worldwide popularity of the Prius, Toyota has now sold more than three million units of the hybrid vehicles.
The Coaster EV and the original Prius hit the market in 1997, and
since then have slowly gained momentum in sales, with many making a due consideration for the
environment. The Prius has become Japan’s most popular car.
The company introduced the hybrid Prius to Europe and other major markets in 2000 and has
come to dominate this segment of the market. They claim to have led to about 18 million fewer
tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
With the ‘green’ sector of cars to get more populated by companies like Nissan and Mitsubishi,
Toyota, who sell 16 hybrid models in 80 countries worldwide, are sure to face stiffer competition
in the near future.
