From the Promenade, we headed to another iconic location in Pondy: Eglise de Notre Dame des Anges. The Our Lady of Angels Church, as it translates into English, is one of the older churches in town, built in AD 1855. If you’re fond of architecture, as I am, the churches’ singular style blending Greek and Roman influences will blow your mind. This historic church has another distinction. It is the only church to offer mass in French, English, and Tamil.
There’s so much to see and do in Pondicherry, but we had Chennai to explore as well, so we headed back the way we came. The Glanza makes navigating so easy in unfamiliar towns such as these two were to yours truly. Connect your phone through Android Auto, pull the switch on the steering to activate voice commands, and tell the car where you want to go. Simple.
In Chennai, I went and checked out the famous Marina Beach and its rather more modern lighthouse. This six-kilometre-long beach is the longest in the country and sees thousands of people visit it every day. The lighthouse, too, is one of a kind. One of the few in the country that’s open to visitors and one of the few in the world to feature a lift, this is a green lighthouse that draws its power from the sun!
Having checked out the lighthouse, it was time for some grub. And as a writer myself, I couldn’t go anywhere else but to the famous Writer’s Café in Chennai.
After a delectable meal of some amazing food and shakes, it was time to drop off the Glanza and take a flight back home. This classy hatch had really shone throughout this trip. It looks great, offers amazing seat comfort, and I’ve already spoken about its driveability and features. It also comes with three years of warranty and three years of free roadside assistance as well. The latter in particular is a great source of comfort when you’re travelling in unknown parts like I was. It was a grand old time exploring these two coastal towns and one that was taken to the next level thanks to the excellent Glanza.
