tata_aria-newsTata Motors announced its debut in Indonesia as PT Tata Motors Distribusi Indonesia (TMDI), a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, and launched three vehicles – the Aria, the Vista, and the Safari Storme.

Commenting on the commercial launch, Karl Slym, MD of Tata Motors, said that the company was excited to enter the Indonesian automobile market, and has launched the selected models after extensively testing various models from its portfolio since the initial announcement of its market entry plans a year ago.

The first product announced by TMDI is the Tata Vista GZX small hatchback powered by a 1,400 cc petrol engine. The second product is the Tata Aria Pure 4×2, a MPV crossover powered by a 2.2 litre diesel engine and manual transmission. The third product is the Tata Safari Storme EX, also powered by a 2.2 litre diesel engine.

Biswadev Sengupta, President Director of PT TMDI, announced that the company would be launching more products soon. He added that the company was introducing five 3S (Sales, Service and Spare Parts) dealers to Indonesia today, with four more to come up by December and a total of 15 by March 2014. The company also plans to set up around 40 additional workshops by March 2014.

Apart from this, the company was launching its flagship 24×1 parts program where it could commit free supply of a part to the customer if the part could not be procured within 24 hours.
