The Evoque is one of the most recognisable Range Rover products available in India today, and the luxurious compact SUV’s 2016 avatar was launched earlier today. Brand ambassador Jacqueline Fernandez was at hand to pull the covers off this updated model, which is priced at Rs 47.1 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). This includes a three year, 100,000 km warranty, and a three year service plan. The competitiveness of the price has been maintained due to the car being assembled at the company’s Chakan plant. Looks wise, the Evoque now has a tweaked front-fender, larger air-intake vents, and LED headlights. The spoiler too has been reworked, along with a fresh tail-lamp design, and more alloy wheel options too have been added to the catalogue along with a rise in the total colour options, with seven now available. Changes have been made on the inside too, as both the seats and material used to make them have been overhauled, along with fresh door casings, and a new 8” touch infotainment screen. As is always the case with the Evoque, everything from the interior trim to seat-material, and even the colour and stitching can be picked out from a wide range of options.
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India claim 125 pre-launch bookings are already in place for the car across all variants, the most expensive of which – the Evoque HSE Dynamic will set you back Rs 63.2 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). Although this top-of-the-line variant does feature some fancy bits of kit such as a gesture controlled tail-gate, an integrated Heads Up Display (HUD), a wider array of visibility from the surround camera and a massive 825 Watt 18 speaker Meridian sound system and rear-seat entertainment among other things. The engine on the Evoque is the same 2.2-litre inline-four power-mill producing 190 PS and 420 Nm of twist. This engine is hooked up to a 9-speed auto-box and four-wheel drive allowing the Evoque to stay true to its off-road ready Range Rover lineage, but still allowing it to do 0-100km/h in a claimed 8.5 seconds and an (also claimed) top speed of 195 km/h.
Speaking of off-road capabilities, this new Evoque also comes equipped with JLR’s All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC). ATPC gives you the option of setting a defined speed that the car will cruise at without needing to hold the accelerator down, with the car also automatically maintaining traction and self-adjusting to changes in terrain, allowing you to move forward without a hitch. Along with this, the Evoque also has Terrain Response, Hill Descent Control, Torque Vectoring, ABS, Dynamic Stability Control, Traction Control System, and Roll Stability Control for easier and safer driving both on and off the road.
