Porsche_Panamera_Diesel_2014_webAt the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, Porsche will unveil a more powerful Panamera diesel model, set to replace the current specification model globally.

It will also feature a dynamic performance package which makes it even more irresistible to potential buyers.

While the exterior brings subtle changes to inform of the update, the main change lies under the bonnet. The 3.0-litre V6 diesel motor in the new model pumps out 300 PS at 4,000 rpm and a huge 650 Nm of torque between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm; 50 PS and 100 Nm more than the outgoing specification. The increase comes from new crankshaft and pistons, as well as an upgraded turbo-charger, which, for the first time, uses a water-cooled turbine. Boost pressure is up 20% from 2.5 bar to 3.0 bar. The new engine will be paired to a retuned 8-speed automatic transmission. This also means better acceleration figures, with 0-100 km/h coming up in 6 seconds and a top speed of 259 km/h. Faster roll-ons are also included, while Porsche have stated that fuel economy is slight better as well, at 15.6 km/l (NEDC).

The new specification will go on sale in January 2014 and retail for €85,300 (Rs 72.5 lakh approx), ex-showroom, Germany. It is expected replace the Indian model in due time for a slight premium.
