German sports car maker announces production version of its hybrid concept
Porsche unveiled their 918 spyder hybrid concept at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and just after a year the company has announced that the concept will enter production.
This decision came in after consumers showed a lot of interest in buying a hybrid Porsche sports car. The 918 concept had breathtaking fuel efficiency figures along with outstanding engine specs. It is equipped with a V8 engine that develops more than 500PS of power and the two electric motors are capable of producing a healthy 220PS of power. However, the fuel efficiency figures are enough to blow you away as the 918 requires just three litres of fuel to cover 100 kilometres. The performance figures are also very
impressive as the 918 can sprint from 0 – 100kmph in just 3.2seconds and is capable of achieving a top speed of 320kmph. Now comes the price; the 918 Spyder Hybrid will cost you a whopping Rs. 4.1crore and that is excluding taxes. The production of the 918 Spyder will start in September 2013 and the deliveries will start from November 2013. Porsche is also offering a special edition 911 Turbo S “Edition 918 Spyder”. Both the cars will have a limited run of 918 cars each.
