Mahindra and Mahindra have introduced the new XUV 500 in India from Rs 11.21 lakh, with two- and four-wheel drive variants and new trim levels too.
The new XUV 500 features extensively revamped styling with a new front bumper, air dam and more aggressive front grille, that now aligns itself with the headlamps. A new addition is the streak of daytime lights on either side. The cheetah-inspired haunches are still a part of the design, and we’re not complaining.
On the safety front, it’s very encouraging to see all variants equipped with all-wheel disc brakes, ABD with EBD, tubeless tyres and dual front airbags. The W8 and W10, both in 2WD and 4WD, also get stability control with rollover mitigation as well as hill-hold and descent control as standard. The top-end W10 model comes equipped with a slew of more convenience features including a reverse parking camera, hydraulic-assist bonnet and even a smart key.
The XUV 500 continues to be powered by the 2.2-litre mHawk four-pot turbo-diesel engine making 140 PS and 330 Nm of torque, paired to the six-speed manual transmission, with either front- or all-wheel-drive.
Prices for the new XUV 500 (ex-showroom, Delhi) are as follows:
W4: Rs 11.21 lakh
W6: Rs 12.48 lakh
W8: Rs 14.18 lakh
W8 AWD: Rs 14.99 lakh
W10: Rs 14.99 lakh
W10 AWD: Rs 15.99 lakh
