Mahindra recently launched an upgraded version of the Xylo MPV with price ranging from Rs 7.40 lakhs to Rs 10.25 lakhs.
At the launch Senior Vice President (Sales and Customer Care, Automotive sector), said that the mini Xylo could be launched some time around Diwali. This vehicle is slated to be priced at approximately 5 lakhs, and will be lesser than four metres in length. Mr Malhotra refused to offer any further comments on the mini version.
Meanwhile, the upgraded Xylo that was launched has refreshed exteriors with new front grille, headlamps and bumpers with air dams. The interiors are similar to the oputgoing model but have dual tone dashboard. The top of the line E9 variant has decals and sporty new rails, and is powered by the mHawk engine which also does the duty on the Scorpio SUV. While other models like the E4 and E8 still sport the mEagle engine which has been carried from the outgoing model.
Mahindra would sell the following variants:
- D2 and D4- commercial customers (mDI engine)
- E4 and E8 – Personal usage (mEagle engine)
- E9- premium usage (mHawk engine)
Currently 2500 units of the Xylo are being sold. Production of the old Xylo will be stopped now, and this vehicle will be available from 8th February 2012. Phase 1 of the launch is in Delhi, Maharashtra, UP, Bihar, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, whereas Phase 2 will be in the rest of India.
