Mercedes-Benz have officially listed the S-Class Coupé on their German website. The car is available in just two variants – both twin-turbo V8s with 4matic all-wheel drive.
The S-Class Coupé replaces the erstwhile CL-Class and, for those who were fans of the large luxury coupé, those were quite some shoes to fill, and we believe the new S-Coupé fills them well. At over five metres, the S Coupé is long, sleek and, dare I say, exceptionally beautiful. The lines not just accentuate the design elements but also make it extremely slippery through the air, with Mercedes quoting a low drag coefficient.
There are just two variants you can have: the 500 and the 63 AMG. The S500 Coupé is powered by the 455PS/700Nm 4.7-litre twin-turbo V8 and is paired to the 7G-Tronic automatic, while the S63 AMG Coupé packs a 585PS/900Nm 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 mated to the AMG SpeedShift 7MCT. Both cars feature 4matic as standard. The AMG model, at 2,070 kg, is 20 kg lighter than its less powerful twin. Both cars are limited to a top speed of 250 km/h.
The starting price for the S500 Coupé is €125,961.50 (Rs 1.02 crore). Considering our import duty structure, you can expect to pay upwards of Rs 2.5 crore, all said and done, in India.
