Mercedes-AMG are well on their way to creating the successor for the SLS Gullwing. The new car will be smaller, lighter and just as exciting, if not more bonkers than its predecessor was.
The car will be unveiled for all eyes to see at the Paris Motor Show in October this year. But, to build up the interest until then, Mercedes have let slip a few images of the car. Well, not the car exactly, just hints of how it will look and sound.
Mercedes are calling it ‘the absolute best of what they’ve done in a single, monumental, unwavering engineering achievement’. What we made of that statement was: their new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 in its most powerful guise, supposedly 585 PS and 800 Nm; lightweight chassis; carbon-fibre everything, almost; high-performance brakes and suspension; and a seriously sleek and slippery design. Of course, we won’t rule out electric-aid and mind-numbing off the line acceleration as a result. The AMG GT is expected to take the battle to the Porsche 911 and Jaguar F-Type, so we just know it’s going to be absolutely explosive.
This is what you can expect to see:
…and hear:
If the SLS AMG Black Series is anything to go by, the new AMG GT will surely be something to keep your eyes, and ears, peeled for.
