CAr India Mahindra e2oplus first drive review (5)

Approach the e2o Plus from the rear, and you’ll notice again that while the overall ethos is similar to the e2o, there are obvious changes. This includes a newly designed tail-lamp unit that fits much better with the overall style of the car and is a marked improvement over the Plus’s two-door sibling, as is the slightly protruding rear bumper. You might also notice a fuel-filler style cap on either side of the car, which isn’t a mistake, because the e2o Plus comes with both a conventional charging slot and a quick charger. Overall, the e2o is pleasant-looking on the outside, though the only aspect that isn’t as visually appealing is inconsistent panel gaps.

Inside the cabin, the e2o Plus has adequate knee-room in the front row. I had to take the seat all the way back before I felt completely comfortable. The centre console, finished in a faux carbon-fibre plastic, looks pretty good, with the Blaupunkt Android OS-based touchscreen infotainment being the highlight. You get your standard USB, Bluetooth and all of that, and the infotainment is simple and easy to navigate. However, you need to really push to get the touchscreen to respond. The air-con controls are pretty swanky looking, too. Surprisingly, the button that pops open the boot is placed in this area as well, which takes some getting used to. The second row also is quite comfortable. Even with the driver’s seat pushed all the way back, there was a couple of inches of space left between my knees and the back of the seat, and there was enough room to fit two people in without feeling cramped.

The e2o Plus top-end P8 variant that we drove is powered by a 72V Lithium-ion long core battery that producers 30 kW (41 PS equivalent) at 3,500 RPM and 91 Nm up to 2,500 revs. In conjunction with a direct drive transmission the e2o Plus offers a claimed range of 140 km and a claimed top speed of 85 km/h. Mahindra also claim a 0-60 km/h speed of 9.5 seconds. Charge time is rated at nine hours, and if you can find Mahindra’s quick charge point, you can accomplish this in a claimed 90 minutes.
