Indian arm of Korean manufacturer ready with 800-cc mini hatch
HYUNDAI, ONE OF INDIA’S LARGEST car makers, are all set to shake things up in the entry-level hatchback segment with a car that may give a tough fi ght to the number one selling car in India, the Maruti Alto.
Hyundai are soon going to launch a new car that has been in the news for quite some time now. This new car will be equipped with a 800-cc motor that is said to produce about 40-50 PS and will be available at a price lower than the company’s hot selling model, the Santro.
Sources also claim that the new car will have class-leading fuel-effi ciency combined with low carbon emission. This car, codenamed H800, is currently in the fi nal stages of testing and is expected to hit the road by the end of 2011. It is understood that its price will be in the region of Rs 2.5-3.0 lakh, though nothing is confi rmed as yet.
Hyundai were planning to launch the new car at the 2012 Auto Expo, but changed their mind and will now launch it around November this year.
