CAR India’s shutter captures a brand new SUV being tested near Pune
In January, we listed a Force Motors SUV in our list of 53 cars to watch out for in 2011 that would make an entry in the Indian market.
Last month, CAR India spotted one being tested on the outskirts of Pune with heavy camouflage. In-depth research on the car’s dimensions and styling revealed that this SUV, which Force Motors is expected to launch in the Indian market, is basically manufactured by the little known Chinese car maker Guangdong Foday. This SUV looks pretty big in size with three rows of seats for seven adults. Evident from the test mule that we spotted, the Explorer III has disc brakes all around.
It’s called the Explorer III in China and is sold in three variants, two of which are 2.7-litre diesel and one is a 2.2-litre petrol. We reckon, in India, the company will introduce the 2.7-litre common rail diesel injection engine that produces 103PS of peak power and 225Nm of peak torque. The engine will be mated to a five speed manual transmission. Safety features of this car will include ABS and EBD.
