Renault India have introduced their new entry offering in India, the Kwid, from Rs 2.56 lakh (ex-Delhi).
The new Kwid positions itself as a first-car buyer’s wishlist topper, as well as those looking for a sensible second or even third car. With an aggressive SUV-inspired design, robust build quality, excellent suspension and contemporary features, it makes a strong value proposition.
At the heart of the Kwid is an all-new SCe 800-cc three-cylinder petrol engine with 54 PS and 72 Nm. A five-speed manual transmission drives the front wheels. It offers decent steering feel, good cornering ability, and, with 155/80 R13 rubber, decent levels of grip, although, 14-inchers would be appreciated. The big news is the ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure of 25.17 km/l, making it the most economical petrol car on sale in India.
Renault have launched the Kwid in four variants, two option packs, with a variety of accessories and accessory packs on sale as well. The top-end RxT gets the touchscreen MediaNAV infotainment system (straight from the Duster) as well as an optional driver airbag. The details pricing (ex-Delhi) is as follows:
- Std: Rs 2.56 lakh
- RxE: Rs 2.89 lakh
- RxE(O): Rs 2.95 lakh
- RxL: Rs 3.12 lakh
- RxT: Rs 3.44 lakh
- RxT(O): Rs 3.53 lakh
