Some of you may remember this tag-line from a tyre commercial from the days gone by, but in the case of the new Mahindra TUV 300, it’s perfectly applicable

Of late there had been much speculation about Mahindra’s new SUV. What would it look like, what would the interior be like, et cetera. A few images of the vehicle also found their way into the social media channels of prominent journalists or web portals. Finally, on 10 September, quashing all speculation, Mahindra and Mahindra launched the all-new TUV 300 at a relatively low-key affair at the company’s plant at Chakan, near Pune, which is where they are making the vehicle as well.
Looking at the car, it’s difficult to decide whether I like its styling. After a few minutes, when I finally cast my vote, it’s a nay. The new TUV 300 looks a little too boxy for me, inspired as it is by a military tank. This new Mahindra is a congregation of flat surfaces. But then design and styling are two rather subjective topics and to my nay, I’m sure there will be as many ayes. What isn’t debatable, though, is quality, and there is no denying that with the new TUV 300, Mahindra have stepped up the quality aspect of their SUV manufacturing process. Shut-lines are consistent and doors shut with a solid-sounding thud.
