The super-luxury SUV from Bentley now has a name – Bentayga.
The Crew-based marque have announced the name for their all-new super-luxury SUV, which will bring quintessential British luxury and cocoon occupants, with the added peace of mind because of its all-road ability.
Bentley did say that there shouldn’t be a limitation on the type of luxury vehicle, so long as it was a luxury vehicle. The new platform will be the base for the Bentayga and help the company break into a segment they’ve never been in before.
The Bentayga is likely to feature the 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 motor with 575-625 PS and all-wheel drive as standard. Also, it is very likely to have the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 option in 528-PS guise, like the Continental GT V8 S. The inclusion of a diesel also cannot be ruled out, with a twin-turbo 5.0 V10 diesel also rumoured to be in the works, apart from the very potent 4.2-litre V8 TDI also available within the group company. The Volkswagen Touareg was earlier offered with a 5.0-litre V10, and the drawing board may see another visit for a much more powerful version with what could deliver an insane amount of torque. The Bentayga won’t weigh anything less than two-and-a-quarter tonnes, so it’s same to assume that it will only deliver the best in comfort, convenience and connectivity.
The only car in the super-luxury SUV segment today is the Range Rover Long Wheelbase, available with a 339-PS/700-Nm twin-turbo V8 diesel and a 510-PS/625-Nm supercharged V8 petrol, with prices in India starting from Rs 2.1 crore.
