Audi India today launched the new RS5 coupe, in essence a ‘sports’ version of the A5 sedan, in India. The facelifted version of the previous RS5, it is claimed by Audi to be even better than the car it succeeds.

The new RS5 was first previewed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Power comes from the company’s naturally-aspirated all-aluminium 4.2-litre V8 FSi direct injection engine developing 450 PS at 8,250 rpm and 430 Nm from 4,000 to 6,000 rpm, with a seven-speed S-Tronic twin-clutch automatic gearbox delivering this power to all four wheels via the quattro intelligent all-wheel-drive system. The RS5 claims to do the 0-100 km/h run in just 4.5 seconds on the way to a top speed of 280 km/h.

Exterior highlights include restyled Audi signature LED daytime running headlights and tail-lamps, redesigned front and rear bumpers, a revised front grille, more pronounced bonnet styling, sports exhaust system, a three-spoke RS steering wheel, and 20-inch alloy wheels. On the inside, there are minor cosmetic changes, DVD-based satellite navigation, cruise control, and a stereo with Bluetooth and iPod connectivity. Optional features include a Bang & Olufsen sound system, sports suspension with dynamic ride control and variable damping, the Audi Drive Select system, as well as heated and cooled seats.

The new RS5 will be imported as a CBU and is priced at Rs 95.28 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra).
