Maruti Suzuki have been teasing us with details of the new Ignis since it was revealed at the Auto Expo 2016. We now know when the Ignis will be available.
Maruti Suzuki’s next big launch, the Ignis, was expected to launch in early 2017. It has finally had a launch date revealed, which is January 13. The new compact-SUV-style Ignis is going to be sold exclusively through the Nexa line of exclusive dealerships. The Ignis will be the smallest car to be sold through the Nexa premium dealerships. We expect this premium hatchback to be powered by an updated version of the 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine which is also seen in the Swift and the Baleno paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, or also a possible automated manual transmission (AMT).
India should also see a diesel version of the Ignis, in all probability equipped with the 75-PS version of the 1.3-litre turbo-diesel, the DDiS 190 oil-burner, seen in most Maruti Suzuki diesel car models.
Maruti Suzuki have also listed the Ignis on their Nexa website and also showcased a silhouette of the car among their other models available: the S-Cross and the Baleno. Pricing is yet to be confirmed, but we expect it to begin below Rs 5 lakh.
