Car India was among the off-road enthusiasts who experienced a great weekend at the Mahindra Great Escape, organised recently by Mahindra Adventure
Mahindra and Mahindra recently organised the 78th Mahindra Great Escape in the lush green surroundings of Lonavala, near Pune. As is well known, Great Escape is an event organised by Mahindra Adventure to encourage Mahindra vehicle-owners to indulge in some off-roading fun and also to experience the ruggedness of their Mahindra vehicle.
The 78th Great Escape was flagged off from the Pavana Resort Club Mahindra, located near the river Pavana. The event witnessed participation by more than 50 M&M vehicle-owners, the range comprising the Scorpio, Bolero, Invader and the latest entrant, Thar. The main object of the event was to let the participants enjoy the strong and rugged character of their vehicles in a variety of terrain, which ranged from tarmac, broken roads to no roads at all.
At the beginning of the event all the participants were evidently charged by the prospect of some serious off-roading. However, before the fun began, they had to cover a distance 34 kilometres on tarmac and broken roads to fetch up at a course that was an off-road enthusiasts’ delight. It included crossing small streams strewn with huge rocks, grass, slush and mud, the best part being a special section of the trail that went through a riverbed full of slush, mud and dirt. Having tackled this the participants had to drive up a steep gradient covered with loose soil and grass. For the last part of this off-road experience the organisers had divided the trail into three sections to suit the capability of the participating vehicles. This, of course, was the toughest part of the entire off-road course.
In the end all the participants enjoyed this experience as well as the opportunity to put their own and their vehicles’ stamina to an exacting test.
