The new Volkswagen Tiguan has been launched in India from Rs 31.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the five-seat version of the globally popular SUV.
The new Volkswagen Tiguan is here again and this time it comes with the same tried and tested 2.0 TSI motor from the Allspace iteration along with a few more upgrades we’ve already seen on the global product.
Styling updates are seen in the form of revised headlamps that are now sharper and house new Matrix LED units. The front grille has been reworked a bit as well, along with a revised lower apron with new triangular-shaped fog-lamps and air-vents. At the rear, the car looks almost the same as before, however, it now gets Tiguan badging under the VW moniker, like its smaller sibling, the Taigun.
The interior sees a revision as well with an eight-inch display in the middle that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steering wheel also gets the new VW badge. Climate control, an eight-way powered driver seat, along with a long list of tech round up the updates.
The motor is the 2.0 TSI, a 1,984-cc, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine pushing out 190 hp and 320 Nm. It comes mated to VW’s noted seven-speed DSG (DirectShift Gearbox), a quick-shifting dual-clutch automatic transmission driving all four wheels via the 4MOTION intelligent all-wheel-drive system.
At this price point, the Tiguan locks horns with the premium SUV crowd including the Hyundai Tucson and the Toyota Fortuner.
