McLaren have officially revealed the 570S Coupé ahead of the New York International Auto Show.
The new 570S brings McLaren’s exclusivity together with race-driven technologies to a new segment. The 570S is the first of the Sports Series and joins the Super Series and Ultimate Series; completing a three-tier McLaren range, which will be chown together for the first time at the New York International Auto Show.
The 570S is a every bit the classic sports car, with a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout and carbon-fibre construction. The ‘Shrinkwrapped’ design includes elegant flying buttresses to optimise aerodynamics and increase downforce. The M838TE twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, includes 30% new components, and produces 570 PS at 7,400 RPM, with 600 Nm of torque peaking between 5,000 and 6,500 RPM. The 7-speed SSG automatic transmission drives the rear wheels.
With a dry weight of just 1,313 kg, the 570S has a class-leading power-to-weight ratio of 434 PS/tonne. This gives it performance to rival some noteworthy rivals: 0-100 km/h takes 3.2 seconds, while 0-200 km/h takes just 9.5 seconds.
After its global premiere at the New York International Auto Show, the McLaren 570S will lock horns with the Jaguar F-Type R, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Aston Martin Vantage V12 S and Lamborghini Huracán among others.
