Porsche have introduced the new Cayman GT4, with a 911-based motor and a proper manual transmission.
The new Cayman GT4 is the latest addition to the iconic brand’s GT line of high-performance sports cars. Based on the Cayman, the GT4 shares more than spirit with the 911 GT3. It sits 30mm lower than the standard car. The motor, a 3.8-litre flat-six motor from the 911 Carrera S, has been tuned down to 385 PS, giving the mid-engined sports car a much-appreciated performance bump. What’s more, a six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels is the only available configuration.
The Cayman GT4 has lapped the Nürburgring in 7:40, putting it at the head of its class. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and goes on to a top whack of 294 km/h. The Cayman GT4 gets three obvious large air intakes on the nose and a big wing on the back. Options include the Porsche Composite Ceramic Brakes, CFRP seats, and two package options: the Sports Chrono or a Club Sport.
The Porsche Cayman GT4 goes on will be priced £64,451 (Rs 60 lakh) in the UK and Ireland but will celebrate its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
