Volvo Auto India have introduced the new S80 executive saloon in style, with a simultaneous launch of their exclusive new lounge at Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.
The new Volvo S80 luxury sedan features not just a new face, but, more importantly, also updated technology under the hood and inside the cabin, with the new 163-PS D4 and 215-PS D5 diesel motors leading the charge, and an upgraded City Safety auto-braking system, which works up to 50 km/h, adds the cherry on top. The addition of Adaptive Cruise Control to the list of choices, together with Active High Beams is a welcome addition. The front-end gets the LED daytime running light treatment while the svelte new LED tail-lamps retain the distinguished Volvo signature.
Inside, you have an updated list of choices for the upholstery as well as wheel designs in 17” and 18” on offer. A new colour option, Crystal White Pearl Metallic also arrives, which is sure to be popular in the country. The information console moves to a TFT-LCD panel, with three themes to choose from – Elegance, Eco and red-hue-rich Performance. The steering wheel now features gear-shift paddles for the Geartronic automatic transmission. Dual integrated tail-pipes can also be specified. Before we forget, D5 buyers can also choose the Polestar Performance upgrade, which ups the power and torque to 230 PS and 470 Nm.
The Volvo S80 D4 has been launched at Rs 41.35 lakh with the D5 available from Rs 44.80 lakh, both ex-showroom, Delhi.
The Volvo Lounge is a first of its kind in the country, where patrons can experience true Scandinavian luxury, spread over 925 sq.ft. Travellers can learn more about Volvo’s pioneering innovations and get a glimpse into the world through the eyes of the safety-synonymous Swedish car major. Also part of the lounge is Volvo Retail Experience, which showcases to the public the car lines on offer from Volvo in the country. Entry to the lounge is of course ‘by invitation only’ – Platinum and Gold cards for Volvo owners and VIP guests respectively.
