20th Century Fox release a new trailer for the upcoming Ford v Ferrari movie that is all set to launch on 15 November 2019.
What makes a movie even more awesome is knowing that the story is based on true events and that those events pertain to motorsport glory. The Ford v Ferrari movie is based on the true story of how Ford wanted to build a race car that beat Ferrari at the 1966 Le Mans. The 24 hours of Le Mans – one of the most prestigious races in motorsport, often referred to as the Grand Prix of Endurance and Efficiency.
Ferrari were dominating the Le Mans for a long period and Ford wanted to change that by making a car that would outperform the prancing horse. Carroll Shelby was approached by Lee Iacocca, a Ford executive who was particularly determined to beat Ferrari in the Le Mans. Back then the Ferrari was the most advanced and fastest car in the endurance race, but Henry Ford II believed that his brand could go to war with Ferrari and wasn’t afraid to take on the challenge.
Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) along with Ken Miles (Christian Bale) took up the task of building a lighter and faster car than the Ferrari. Ford became the first American manufacturer to win at the Le Mans 1966 endurance race. When it comes to racing, it is all about the hard work, determination and desire needed by the team and the driver to succeed.
We can’t wait to see Batman and Jason Bourne bringing the GT40 and this epic rivalry to life in the new Ford v Ferrari movie. Racing movies are rare and mostly documentaries, but with movies like these, we get to live the story of the past, with some of our favourite actors making it more tempting to watch. The last such movie based on racing and a true story was ‘Rush’, which showed us the rivalry of F1 drivers Niki Lauda and James Hunt in an amazing way.
