Lamborghini have dropped the top of the Huracán RWD Coupé and have given us the Huracán RWD Spyder.
The Huracán Spyder packs the same 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated, dual-inection, V10 which develops 580 PS and 540 Nm of torque which is sent to the rear wheels through a LDF (Lamborghini Doppia Frizione) seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The new Huracán RWD Spyder weighs in at 1,509 kg which is about 30 kg less than the 4WD variant (Four-Wheel Drive), which means this charging bull reaches from standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds and onto a top speed of 319 km/h.
Upon the reveal of the Spyder, Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stefano Domenicali said, “The rear-wheel drive Spyder enlarges the Huracán family’s core product range, it offers the lifestyle appeal of open-air motoring with the pure thrill of rear-wheel-drive engineering. This is a Lamborghini for those with a passion for life and the purest driving experience on the open road. It’s also a Huracán for those entering the Lamborghini family, wanting a true Spyder experience without compromising on the performance and dynamic handling of a rear-wheel-drive car.”
As with the coupé, the front and rear of the car are redesigned, with its looks accented by the large front air-intakes that direct cooling air and headwind to increase down pressure on the front axle. The new soft-top roof on the Spyder opens and closes in just 17 seconds and can also be done while the car is travelling at speeds up to 50 km/h. The weight distribution on the new Huracán RWD Spyder is biased 40 per cent at the front and 60 per cent at the rear, which reduces inertia at the front wheels compared to the Huracán 4WD version.
The RWD Huracán Spyder will be available in markets from January 2017, and will be priced between the two- and four-wheel drive coupé models.
