Ferrari will showcase an all-new model on Feb 12 – codenamed ‘149M’ – set to replace the California in their line-up.

The new car is widely expected to be a V6-powered replacement for the California 30. While many speculated that there was a reincarnated Dino in the works, more specifically the iconic 246GT, Ferrari will clear all doubts when the official reveal takes place tomorrow. Worth mentioning, is that the ‘M’ designation is usually for facelift models (575M replacing the 550 Maranello), denoting ‘modificato’, or ‘modified’.

The car could be powered by tuned-up engines from the Maserati stable. The 530PS 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 in the Quattroporte GTS has been developed by Ferrari; the output is higher than the 490 PS in the present California 30. We want to completely rule out a more powerful version of the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 in the Quattroporte S and the Ghibli as a potential candidate to find itself under the bonnet (or behind the seats) of the latest Ferrari, but it will be interesting to see what Ferrari have in store for the world tomorrow.

The Ferrari line-up presently includes the California, the 458, in Coupé and Spyder avatars, the four-seat-four-wheel-drive FF, the F12berlinetta super GT and the LaFerrari hybrid hypercar.

Stay tuned for the latest developments on the latest prancing horse from the heart of Italy.
