2019 BMW X5 luxury SUV

The new BMW X5 has arrived from Rs 72.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and it’s longer, wider and bigger than ever in its fourth generation.

Based on the BMW Cluster Architecture (CLAR) platform, the new BMW X5 is now considerably larger, measuring 4,922 millimetres long, 2,004 mm wide and 1,745 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,975 mm and a ground clearance of 214 mm. The dimensions also improve the car’s boot capacity to 650 litres which can be expanded to 1,860 litres.

The new BMW X5 carries design language similar to what is seen on the latest generation of BMW cars such as the X7 and features a larger and more prominent twin-slat kidney grille. The front bumpers feature large air-vents and it gets new LaserLight LED headlamps with increased high-beam range. There is also a revised rear bumper with wider tail-lamps and massive alloy wheels.

Inside the new X5, you get the usual spread of quality materials including leather upholstery, and trim accents in wood and metal. The latest connectivity is augmented by BMW Live Cockpit Professional in the form of a large 12.3-inch central touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, with smart displays behind the steering wheel as well. A panoramic sunroof is standard on the Sport and M Sport trims, with the xLine getting an exclusive Sky Lounge roof. Everything BMW Head-up Display is available exclusively in the M Sport.

The new BMW X5 is being offered in one petrol and two diesel variants. The xDrive40i petrol gets BMW’s signature 3.0-litre straight-six with 340 PS and 450 Nm. The xDrive30d diesel is the 3.0-litre, straight-six with 265 PS and 620 Nm. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard. Among the key differentiators are the wheels: 19-inch ones on the Sport trim and 20-inchers on the xLine and M Sport trims. .

The new BMW X5 xDrive30d Sport has been priced at Rs 72.90 lakh, with both the xDrive40i M Sport petrol and the xDrive30d xLine diesel priced at Rs 82.40 lakh, all ex-showroom.
