Mercedes-AMG have finally revealed their flagship performance coupé – the new S65 AMG Coupé – and a much-awaited replacement for their absolutely mental CL65 AMG, complete with the BiTurbo V12!

The new S65 AMG Coupé bring impeccable build quality, equipment levels and attention to detail and teams it up with unmatched performance. The striking new S Coupé only went on sale not too long ago and the new 65 model making an appearance means a lot to many, this writer included. Under all of that rich leather interior, wood and metal lies the gigantic beating heart.

The renowned 6.0-litre BiTurbo V12 continues doing duty. It features multi-spark ignition with 12 twin-spark ignition units and delivers the complete 630 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque to the rear wheels through the AMG SpeedShift Plus 7-GTronic seven-speed automatic transmission. The performance on tap is claimed to be a 4-second 0-100 km/h time and it will be limited to 250, with a choice to raise the limit to 300 km/h.

The S65 AMG Coupé will also feature an active suspension system with the Curve Tilting Function and Road Surface Scan, based on Magic Body Control, which isn’t being offered. Another interesting addition is the Lithium-Ion battery which replaces both the starter battery and the backup battery, reducing weight by up to 20 kg. The whole package rides on standard 20” wheels.

The S65 AMG Coupé will go on sale at the end of the year. Of course, we do expect it to come to India, but we do not expect it to be anywhere near affordable. It lies in a segment reserved for the very pinnacle of engineering where sport and luxury come together like few creations on the planet.
