Is there a Lamborghini Aventador SV coming?Spy shots of a possible Aventador SV have been doing the rounds online for quite some time now. In fact, it was also spotted at the Nürburgring a few months ago. Now, however, a prototype of a prospective Aventador SV, which has never been seen before on the public roads, has surfaced.
The car was caught testing on an Italian highway minus any camouflage. Visual differences are a revised rear diffuser with vertical slats and four exhaust pipes, in place of the single large centrally-mounted unit seen on the Aventador LP 700-4. Of course, that could be a temporary piece of equipment to throw us off.
The SV cars are extremely special. The title of ‘SV’ or ‘Super Veloce’ is accorded only to the hardest-core Lamborghini fighting bulls of the car world. The treatment on the Murciélago resulted in a weight loss of 100 kg and a power gain of 30 PS from the big V12, resulting in an almost all-new car. On those lines, we can be sure to expect an even hotter version of the Aventador, complete with more carbon-fibre and even more ferocious vehicle dynamics; for those who can relate to ‘Corsa’ mode in the ‘standard’ car, for lack of a better word.
Remember, the 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 in the Aventador was already upgraded with 20 more horses in the 50th anniversary edition – the LP 720-4 50° Anniversario. With the Ferrari F12berlinetta making 740 PS from it’s 6.3-litre naturally-aspirated V12, we wonder what sort of power bump we’re in store for. Nevertheless, we can expect the Aventador SV to be an even more agile, track-focused and, yes, raw Lamborghini. We can’t wait!
