Jaguar have launched a new XF engine variant, the 2.0 Petrol, to cater to the demand for compact-engined petrol executive saloons.
The demand for petrol cars has seen some activity of late, and the only petrol XF Jaguar have had, until now, is the massive 5.0-litre V8 XF R, that goes head on against the top performance models from their German competition the likes of the BMW M5 and Mercedes E 63 AMG. Now though, the new XF 2.0 Luxury will compete against the Audi A6 2.0 TFSI, the BMW 520i and the Mercedes-Benz E 200 CGI, although they are much lower priced.
The 2.0-litre, turbocharged and direct injected four-cylinder engine, also seen in the Range Rover Evoque and the XF’s bigger sibling, the XJ, makes 240 PS and 340 Nm. At 1,700 kg, it is also the lightest XF available. Jaguar-Land Rover India have begun assembling the XF 2.0 Petrol, 2.2 Diesel and 3.0 Diesel S at their facility in Chikhli, near Pune in Maharashtra. The big V8 XF-R is still being imported as a CBU.
As far as price is concerned, this move has seen a revision of pricing: the XF 2.0 Petrol is priced at Rs 61.58 lakh, the 2.2 Diesel costs Rs 61.78 lakh, while the Diesel S sees a drop of nearly Rs 7 lakh at Rs 69.22 lakh, all OTR Pune. The XF R carries forward its Rs 1.31 crore price tag.
The new XF range is already available at dealerships around the country.
