Having scoped out the fort and taken our instantly identifiable pictures there (thanks Bollywood) Calangute was next on the itinerary, specifically, Molly Malone’s which was our rest stop for the visit. After we have checked in, dumped our luggage, and caught some much-needed shut-eye, I was itching to hit the beach. Before I could do that, though, 
we thought a stately meal was in order, which meant a trip to the excellent Infantaria at the Calangute-Baga junction for a massive meal, topped off by the mouth-meltingly delightful Alpine Chocolate Mousse from the illustrious Britto’s shack at Baga beach. I have a tradition, whenever I visit Goa, even if it is south Goa, I just have to make my way to Britto’s and have at least one serving of Alpine Chocolate Mousse (although I don’t often restrict myself to just one) because I am a chocoholic and it is just that good!
We hit the neighbouring St Anthony’s shack for some Karaoke fun after, but out of deep consideration for the other guests, we refrained from taking to the microphones ourselves. Of course, going to Baga is accomplished by road well enough, but being in Goa, we decided to give the Santa Fe some 
chilling time too, and walked down the beach from Calangute to Baga and back. All that food and walking meant a good night’s sleep, and I woke up fresh, pumped and ready to go just before dawn’s first light the next day. We had a lot of ground to cover, so the super early start stood us in good stead. We first visited Old Goa and the two most prominent churches there: the Bom Jesus Basilica where St Francis Xavier was buried, directly opposite which is the Sé Cathedral and the church of St Francis of Assisi. These churches in particular draw the devout from the world over, and the Bom Jesus Basilica is even listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. Something to add to your to-do list then, the next time you visit Goa. We also stopped off at Miramar, and actually drove the Santa Fe on to the beach there, to the immense chagrin of a murder of crows who promptly fluttered off in indignation.
