One of the most prominent car manufacturers in India, Honda Cars, have announced a Rs 380 crore investment to increase the company’s production capacity in Rajasthan.
With this investment, the Tapukara plant in Rajasthan will be able to roll out 1,80,000 vehicles/year by 2016, 50% more than the current capacity of 1,20,000 vehicles. Along with an increase in production, 600 more workers will also be employed. The expansion of the Rajasthan plant will increase the total production of vehicles to 3,00,000 units, from the current 2,40,000 units.
Honda Cars seem to be growing at a fast pace, and have shown a 44% increase in domestic sales during April 2014 to Feb 2015 with 1,66,366 units, as opposed to only 1,15,913 units in the fiscal year 2013-2014. Adding newer models like the Amaze, 4th-gen City and Mobilio to the company’s line-up, has helped boost Honda’s sales in India.
