AUDI
Prologue Avant
What future Audis, say the A9, would look like if they went ahead. The Prologue Avant concept uses a hybrid system comprising the 3.0-litre V6 TDI engine together with electric drive, and makes a combined 455 PS and 750 Nm. Those figures allow a 0-100 km/h time of 5.1 seconds. It can also travel up to 53 km on pure electric power. Grand touring luxury in what is essentially a stretched five-door hatchback.
R8
The all-new Audi R8 sports car unleashes a new look and surprises with a lack of a V8 option; instead being offered only in a choice of V10s. The 5.2-litre motor makes 540 PS and 540 Nm in the standard car, with the V10 plus making a Lamborgini Huracán-equalling 610 PS and 560 Nm, both featuring the seven-speed S-tronic and quattro all-wheel drive. The LMS race version was also showcased.
R8 e-tron
The Audi R8 e-tron quattro was present in Geneva in what looked to be production-ready guise. We hear Audi are planning to offer examples strictly by order. The R8 e-tron makes over 450 electric horsepower accompanied by a tidal wave of torque. Moreover, it offers an electric-only range of 450 km; more than any electric car thus far.
Q7 e-tron
Although a concept, the Q7 e-tron shows Audi’s determination to create more sustainable electric mobility. A V6 TDI engine (TFSI in the US) will power the plug-in hybrid car and recharges the 17-kWh battery. It can travel 55 km on electricity alone, and CO2 emissions (not a consideration in India yet) are a staggering 50 g/km! Audi also revealed their intentions to launch an all-electric crossover — likely to be the Q6 — with an even larger battery.
