Ford announced a new venture at the 2015 Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas, a venture that invited third parties to provide innovative mobile-based solutions to tackle global problems. The winning submission for these smartphone-ready resolutions to these problems spanning the earth (The Americas, China, Africa, Europe, Australia and India) put forth by Ford would receive prizes exceeding $200,000 and scholarships for entrepreneurial education in Argentina.
In India, this competition was held in three cities with three unique challenges. The winners were Khyati Majmudar from Mumbai for her Mumbai Monsoon Helper App. Utsav Shah from Delhi was also a winner for his Flare app that helps improve medical responses to trauma accidents. The last winner for the India-based competition was Tristram Norman of the UK. Her App works around building a database for patient medical records that are accessible using each individual patient’s fingerprints so that social workers can provide appropriate medical care based on properly maintained records.
