Jaguar revealed their all-new XE entry luxury saloon in bold style in London.
The new XE, a bright red shining example, arrived at the venue airlifted by a helicopter through the skies over London for all to see. The XE will be positioned below the XF, and will take on the likes of the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4 and Volvo S60, apart from other competitors like the Lexus IS, Infiniti Q50 and Cadillac ATS in global markets.
Jaguar have incorporated loads of technical and luxury features to ensure that the XE not only delivers the British luxury experience associated with the brand, but also packs in technological advances like the world-first LASER HUD, touch-screen enabled centre console and a customisable interior which appeal to both, elegant and sporty sides. The XE also features 75% aluminium construction, more than any car in its class. It is also expected to better 100 g/km CO2, making it exempt from certain road tax levies in the UK.
The power comes from a choice of petrol and diesel engines, including the new Ingenium engine line. The 2.0-litre petrol motor with 240 PS and 340 Nm as well as the new Ingenium AJ200D 2.0-litre diesel, with an estimated 190 PS and 400 Nm, are on the cards. A higher-powered S version will sport the supercharged 3.0-litre V6 with either 340 or 380 PS. Jaguar have even confirmed the range-topping SVR version complete with the F-Type’s 495-PS supercharged 5.0-litre V8!
The car will be officially launched at the Paris Motor Show in October, where full details and specifications will be announced. Deliveries commence from 2015.
