Rolls-Royce Motor Cars didn’t quite know what to name their new convertible, then it dawned on them.

The new Rolls-Royce Dawn will début as a 2016 model and will be a convertible version of the Wraith. Already very exclusive as it is, the Wraith will, literally, lose its top. While it may sound simple, it really isn’t. The new car will dig deep into the roots of the company’s open-top offerings and draws inspiration from the 1952 Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn – one of the rarest cars in the world.

We expect to see a tuned-up motor from the Wraith in the Dawn, so that translates to the 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 producing upwards of 624 PS and 800 Nm of torque, more than enough go for what is likely to be a 2.5-tonne super-luxury convertible for the créme-dé-la-créme of society.

Our new Rolls-Royce Dawn promises a striking, seductive encounter like no other Rolls-Royce to date,” said Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, Chief Executive Officer. “Dawn is a beautiful new open-top motor car with a name that suggests the fresh opportunities that every new day holds – an awakening, an opening up of one’s senses and a burst of sunshine. It will be the most social of super-luxury motor cars for those beautiful people who wish to bathe in the sunlight of the world’s social hotspots.”
