Datsun India have launched the Go+ 7-seater MPV at an attractive price tag.
The entry-brand from Nissan launched their second offering in the country, the 5+2 seater Go+ MPV. The Go+ is a sub-four-metre MPV, offering seating for up to seven and delivering on the efficiency front at the same time. Like the Go, the Go+ gets the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol motor making 68 PS and 104 Nm of torque, mated to a five-speed transmission driving the front wheels. The tyres too are 155/70 R13s – same as the hatchback.
The flexibility is unique, in the sense that the Go+ offers up to seven seats, but with all seats up, the boot is just 48 litres, so it makes sense as a city runabout for a joint family, or something along those lines. With the third row folded, the boot space is a more usable 347 litres. That makes weekend runs out of town for five very doable.
The fuel efficiency should not be too bad either, and with a 35 litres fuel tank, it can go quite a distance before needing a fill-up. However, on the safety front, there is no change. The lap belts for the middle seat in the second row and third row altogether are clear signs of cost-cutting. Yes, you get speed-sensitive power steering in the top-of-the-line ‘T’ variant, but ABS and airbags? They don’t make the spec sheet.
For the price though, it is a competitive buy in a segment where flexibility, fuel efficiency and number of seats are the only considered factors. The four variants are priced as follows (all ex-showroom, Delhi):
- D: Rs 3.79 lakh
- D1: Rs 3.81 lakh
- A: Rs 4.15 lakh
- T: Rs 4.61 lakh
