The Toyota Corolla is a name we’ve been hearing for a long time. The car has been around for what seems like donkey’s years, and now, Toyota have announced the launch of it’s celebrated sedan’s 11th generation. Making its first appearance at the Auto Expo in New Delhi, the Corolla sports the same 1.8-litre dual VVT-i petrol, and 1.4-litre turbocharged D-4D diesel engine options. The changes then, are largely cosmetic.
The New Corolla Altis has a refreshed front grille, an LED set-up for its headlamps and 4 LED clearance lamps too, and sits on new set of 16β alloy wheels. In terms of interiors, the Corolla Altis, as you would expect, is wrapped in plush leather with a two-tone motif and a black dashboard bringing in the style. The technology used in the car has been ramped up as well, the Corolla sports some high end gadgetry such as a push ignition button, rain sensors, paddle shift, and a versatile 7β one button touch screen capable of voice commands and which integrates USB support, a rear camera, a navigation system and Bluetooth as well. Keeping in mind that the Corolla Altis is positioned as a luxury sedan, Toyota have lavished some of their attention to the back seat as well, with innovative features such as a rear seat recliner, reading lamp, and power socket included.
Hisayuki Inoue, Senior Managing Officer, Toyota Motor Corporation, and Chief Executive Officer of Asia and Middle East Operations was present at the launch, and he was very enthusiastic over the new Corolla’s prospects. He said, βThe new Corolla Altis signals a new era in Toyota design. Along with DNA of quality, it shares the exciting new ‘Keen Look’ with our cars around the world. I am confident that the All new Corolla Altis will continue to fascinate customers in India and around the world.β
