Aston Martin has unveiled a stunning new digital rendering of a concept car which will be featured in the hugely popular PlayStation 3 exclusive racing game, Gran Turismo 6. The brand new design was made from scratch by the in-house design team at Aston Martin, led by design director Marek Reichman. The new DP-100 is a virtual-only GT racer that will be available for Gran Turismo 6 owners to download in July. The DP-100 was launched at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The mid-engined, twin-turbo V12 is capable of producing 800 PS of power, giving it a blistering performance which is in tune with the fast paced nature of the game. Created using the same painstaking methods used to make Aston Martin production sports cars, the Dp-100’s build included hand sketching and 3D modelling, followed by full virtual rendering. The DP-100 provides an astounding level of detail which include a fully functioning suspension system, the car’s ‘active aerodynamics’ and state-of-the-art on-board electronics. The car features several design cues and concepts that could see their way onto future production Aston Martins.
Aston Martin has supported previous iterations of the long-running Gran Turismo series, débuting in the very first game with their DB7 Coupé and Volante models. The breathtaking 2011 Aston Martin One-77 is also a very popular car in the Gran Turismo stable.
