For long, the legendary Nürburgring has been the ultimate testing and proving ground for many of the world’s

famous manufacturers.

Now Hyundai have announced that they will build a new test centre at the German track at an investment of €5.5 million ($7.3 million). It will be used by engineers at the company’s existing R&D centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany. It was at this existing R&D centre that the Hyundai i30, ix35 and i40 were engineered for European roads.

Hyundai also plan to use lessons learnt from their forthcoming World Rally Championship campaign to garner feedback for their road cars. Allan Rushforth, Senior Vice-president and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe, said, “The new Hyundai test centre at Nürburgring is an expression of our intention to focus on improving the customer experience of our vehicles, such as ride and handling – an important consideration for European drivers.”
